'Amazing Pair' Ken And Bobby: Northport Adoptable Pets Of The Week
Ken and Bobby, 5-month-old bonded brothers, are waiting patiently, tugging the heartstrings of volunteer staff.
NORTHPORT, NY — Ken and Bobby, 5-month-old bonded brothers, are the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Kittens of the Week, yet again.
They were raised with their brother Alan and two orphans, April, and Andy, said Lora Wild, a volunteer with the rescue. They have all been adopted. Yet Ken and Bobby still wait, she said.
"We always wonder what makes some kittens or cats more desirable than others," Wild said. "We recently had an adoption event, Ken and Bobby put on such a show. They played and were so silly with the children that came in, because they are great with kids. They asked to be picked up and laid their heads on people’s shoulders, because they are very affectionate. They allowed pets and purred and rolled over and showed their bellies. One person looked at them and said, 'You know what they are cute, but I want tiny kittens.' Ken and Bobby were tiny kittens — only a few months ago!"

Kittens grow so fast, but Ken and Bobby's personalities are still very much like any kitten's, Wild said.
"I promise they will still 'grow up with your children,'" she said. "Another person wanted a bonded pair of boys. Ken and Bobby were perfect. They fit the description of everything she wanted in a pair. She said, 'But NOT white kittens.' I wonder why? What if you were looking for a pair of kittens and you walked into a rescue center, and said, who needs out the most today? Who has been here the longest? How wonderful that would be for rescue volunteers. If we were able to tell our fur babies, you are up next! You and your brother are the next pair to go home. If you ever volunteered for a rescue, I know this is something that would make our world a much happier place. Every single fur baby guaranteed a home… We want all our babies to go home…and we celebrate each and every adoption. Yet sometimes a pair will really tug on our heartstrings, trying so hard to get noticed and overlooked over and over again. If you are looking for an amazing pair, come on down to Petco Commack and meet Ken and Bobby (and all their friends too). Maybe we can finally tell them…you are next boys."
