Cook Plans Run for Supervisor

First-term councilman Gene Cook said Wednesday he is planning to run for Huntington town supervisor.

Cook, a member of the Independence Party, screened with the town Republican Party committee last week.

"Although I am a member of the Independence Party, the members of the Republican committee were overwhelmingly enthusiastic of the potential for me being a candidate for the office of supervisor for the town of Huntington," Cook said.

Cook, a Greenlawn resident, won election in 2011 on the Republican, Independence and Conservative lines.

The town supervisor, Democrat Frank Petrone, was first elected to the job in 1993.
