Cops: Co-workers Rescue Man Trapped in Sinkhole

A man who was trapped in a sinkhole in Northport managed to escape injuries, authorities said.

Northport Police say they responded to a report of a man who “was trapped up to his waist” in a sinkhole on Beach Avenue on Dec. 30 at 11:39 a.m.

The man’s co-workers were able to remove him, unharmed. Northport Fire Department also responded to the scene. The man refused medical attention, according to police..

The work being done was under contract for the village. A copy of this report was sent to the village administrator, police said.
