ELWOOD, NY — Elwood-John H. Glenn High School junior Lauren Vega, who is enrolled in the veterinary science program through Wilson Tech, recently competed in the New York State Veterinary Science Career & Leadership Development Event in Buffalo, the Elwood School District announced.

This competition, run by the National Future Farmers of America (FFA), engages students in critical thinking, knowledge assessment and presentation of veterinary science concepts to a series of judges. Through various rigorous activities meant to test students’ understanding and application of veterinary science knowledge, Vega and her Wilson Tech team demonstrated such skill that they earned first place and were crowned New York State FFA champions in veterinary science.

"This is such an awesome achievement for an amazing young lady who has undergone a significant transformation from prior years," teacher Ricky Greening said.
