2013 New Year's Polar Bear Swim

Those with a thick skin can dive into the New Year with dozens, even hundreds, of others at the fourth annual New Year's Day Polar Bear Swim at Steers Beach.

Boy Scout Troop 410 and the Northport Fire Department Smokeaters are holding the event to raise money for the Northport Food Pantry. Hot cocoa and snacks will be provided by Copenhagen Bakery and heaters and fuel will be provided by Lewisy Fuel Oil.

Swimmers will collect as many sponsors as possible at $5 each. Those who don't want to get their toes wet can sponsor one or more swimmers. Sponsor forms can be downloaded here. Swim begins at noon.
