Grand Jury Indicts Retired Teacher on 25 Child Porn Charges

A Suffolk County grand jury has indicted a retired teacher on 25 child pornography charges, according to court records.

Kurt Desch will be arraigned on 25 counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child on March 29. Desch, 63, was arrested at his Northport home on March 12. He was originally charged with a single count of possessing a sexual performance by a child, a felony.

Desch, who retired from teaching at Eastern Suffolk BOCES in 2012, had child pornography, both videos and still photos, on his computer, Suffolk Police said.

Desch remains in jail in lieu of $75,000 bond or $35,000 cash bail. His home on Space Court in Northport is less than 2,000 feet away from Norwood Avenue Elementary School.

Desch receives a $90,762 annual pension through the New York State Teachers' Retirement System, according information posted on SeeThroughNY.
