High School Students Win Digital Competition At Stony Brook
The collaborative business course allows students to work together from five high schools.

Northport, NY — Three students from Northport High School placed in the winning top three teams at the Digital Generation competition at Stony Brook University. The students worked with other high schoolers across Long Island to create projects with Google platforms to address current issues.
Five high schools participated in the program: Northport, Riverhead, Sayville, Westhampton Beach and Half Hollow Hills East and West. 14 groups presented their work on January 13 at the Charles B. Wang Center at Stony Brook. Members of the three winning teams, including Matt Gray, Gabriella DeStasi and Madison Cassar of Northport, will visit Google headquarters in New York City in March.
Some of the issues addressed by the virtual teams include ethical debates on consumer privacy, cyberbullying and college acceptance practices. The students worked on the projects since September as part of the business elective course that's now in its fifth year. The course is supported by Stony Brook University as well as Eastern Suffolk BOCES.
