Jelly And Bean: Northport Adoptable Pets Of The Week

The bonded 1-year-old brothers were returned after being adopted because of "personal circumstances" and are "so sad, and very confused."

NORTHPORT, NY — Jelly and Bean, bonded 1-year-old brothers, are the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Kittens of the Week.

The felines find themselves back at the rescue again after they were adopted approximately five months ago.

"We thought they found their happily ever after," said Lora Wild, a volunteer with the rescue. "Sadly, due to personal circumstances that had nothing to do with them, our sweet boys were returned, and are so sad, and very confused."

They are just about fully grown now, which Wild said will make the search for their forever home "more difficult."

"They were loved where they were, and so in a sense, they are grieving," Wild said.

Jelly and Bean are at Petco Commack.

"When our volunteers show up for their shifts, Bean comes out and sleeps on the cat tree and Jelly either stays in his habitat or wants to be pet and held," Wild said. "It is truly heartbreaking. As a rescue volunteer, I am not sure what hurts more to see; kittens and cats that are waiting too long to be adopted, or ones that come back after experiencing life in a lovely home."

Jelly and Bean are "very bonded," Wild said. They are very silly and playful. They love affection and to be held and pet. They get along with other cats and they LOVE dogs, Wild said.

"They are just perfect. They are still just kittens really, just not as tiny anymore; but you know what you are getting with these two sweet things. Please share their story and help us get them adopted. Every day in a cage is too long."

June is adopt a cat month, and the rescue is offering a discount to help empty its habitats, Wild said.

For those who adopt two cats or kittens from Northport Cat Rescue Association, it will waive the second adoption fee, Wild said.

"Two beautiful cats, like Jelly and Bean for a single adoption fee," she said.

They are neutered, have all their shots, are litter box-trained, and micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative. If you are interested in meeting Jelly and Bean, you may head to the Northport Cat Rescue website and fill out an application to let them know you would like to meet them or any of the rescue's other wonderful kittens and cats!
