Northport Girls Soccer Honored As County Champions

Each team member was awarded a plaque and a certificate of recognition.

On Nov. 29, the Northport-East Northport Board of Education recognized the girls varsity soccer team for their Suffolk County Championship win. Superintendent of Schools Robert Banzer congratulated the team on their second consecutive county championship, and all of their hard work.

In addition, Mark Dantuono, district director of health, physical education and athletics, addressed the board and commended the team. “This is a special group of girls,” Dantuono said. “Not only are they dedicated to excellence in their sport, but they’re dedicated to excellence in the classroom — they succeed in whatever they set their mind to.”

“The way they work together and care for each other is astounding,” added head coach Aija Gipp,“and without that level of camaraderie, this team wouldn’t be where they are today.”
