Northport Police: DWI Arrest; 'Feds' in the Basement

The following was taken from the Northport Police Department crime blotter. An arrest does not indicate a conviction as all persons are presumed innocent until, and if, proven guilty in a court of law.

• Christian Seim, 31, of Northport was arrested on Jan. 25 and charged with DWI, aggravated DWI, and leaving the scene of an accident. He allegedly crashed into a guard rail on Fort Salonga Road and Sandy Hollow and continued to travel to Woodbine Avenue where he was stopped by police. When stopped on Scudder Avenue near School Street, Seim allegedly had slurred speech and stated he didn't know what happened. When asked to exit the vehicle, Seim was reportedly unsteady on his feet, performed poorly on several field sobriety tests, and his breath smelled of an alcoholic beverage. He was arrested and transported to Headquarters, processed, given an intoxilyzer test, (.18 BAC) then began displaying signs of a possible head injury. Northport Rescue responded and transported him to Huntington Hospital for a head injury coupled with high Blood Alcohol Concentration. He was given an appearance ticket to return on Feb. 4 for arraignment.

• A Woodbine Avenue resident told police that unknown persons have been entering her basement and tampering with the electric meters and heating. She stated that she believes that it is federal agents and their machines that are sending people into the basement and that Scotland Yard and the Hague should investigate this problem. According to police, there was no apparent forced entry and the complainant had to unlock several undamaged doors to give the officer access to the basement.

• There was a three car collision with a driver trapped on Elwood Road Jan. 25. Upon arrival with Suffolk County Police Units, a Nnorthport Police officer assisted with traffic control until additional Suffolk Units were available.

• A Burt Avenue resident reported that a Suffolk County Police PBA card and two window stickers were taken from an envelope in his mailbox. The envelope, containing other cards and papers as well, was opened from the side, the card and stickers removed, and the other items put back inside the envelope.

• A Mar Kan Drive resident reported a ring and run.

• A Dick Court resident reported an unknown male carrying a rifle in the woods and wearing a jacket with a fire department emblem on it. The man was later found on Main Street and told police that he was shooting his pellet gun on his own property for target practice.

• Someone reported an "unknown young angry white male acting suspiciously and carrying a black backpack" on Union Place.
