Polar Plunge Coming To Northport, Raising Funds For Special Olympics

Here's how to register or attend the Town of Huntington Polar Plunge event.

NORTHPORT, NY — The Town of Huntington's 3rd Annual Polar Plunge is scheduled for Sunday morning in Northport, the town announced.

The plunge will benefit Special Olympics New York, raising funds and awareness for Special Olympics and its athletes.

The event is set to take place at the Frank P. Petrone Crab Meadow Beach on Waterview Street W., Northport. Registration will start promptly at 8:30 a.m. and run until 9:30 a.m., with the plunge scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.

Councilman Dr. Dave Bennardo expressed his anticipation for this charitable event.

"The water may be cold, but our hearts are warmed by our partnership with our friends at Special Olympics NY," Bennardo said in a news release.

Participants were encouraged to rally friends, family, and colleagues to sponsor their plunge, with all proceeds directly benefiting Special Olympics New York's programs and athletes.
