Police: School Attempted Abduction Report a Misunderstanding
East Northport incident was not criminal in nature.
An attempted abduction reported by the Northport-East Northport School District was a misunderstanding and is not criminal in nature, Suffolk County Police said Tuesday.
A man saw a girl fall off of her scooter on Lynn Avenue in East Northport around 6:30 p.m. Monday, police said. He asked her if she was okay and offered her a ride home. When a neighbor offered to take care of the girl, the man drove away.
The Northport-East Northport School District initially put out an alert warning parents.
