Police Seek Woman Who Attempted to Cash Fake Check

Woman attempted to use fake ID to cash fake check at Elwood bank, say police.

Suffolk Police are seeking a woman who attempted to use a fake ID to cash a fake check in Elwood last month.

A woman, described as black, between 30 and 40 years old, and heavy set, presented the teller at Citibank on 710 Larkfield Road with a fake check for $3,500 and a fake Maryland driver's license on April 19 around 5 p.m.

When the teller questioned the woman about the license and check, the woman exited the bank and fled the parking lot in a dark-colored, full size SUV. Similar incidents have been reported at other Citibank locations in Suffolk County.

The woman left the fake driver’s license at the bank. The photo below was taken from the driver’s license and matches the suspect.

Police ask anyone with information to call 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential. Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
