Retired Teacher Arrested on Child Porn Charges

NORTHPORT, NY – A retired teacher was arrested for possession of child pornography Tuesday morning, Suffolk Police said.

Following an investigation, Computer Crimes Unit detectives arrested 63-year-old Kurt Desch at his home on Space Court in Northport at about 7:15 a.m., police said.

Desch, who told detectives he retired from teaching at Eastern Suffolk BOCES in 2016, had child pornography, both videos and still photos, on his computer, police said.

Desch is charged with possessing a sexual performance by a child, a Class E felony. He is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday at First District Court in Central Islip.

The investigation is continuing and detectives are asking anyone with information to contact the Computer Crimes Unit at 631-852-6579.

Desch receives a $90,762 annual pension through the New York State Teachers' Retirement System, according information posted on SeeThroughNY.
