De Vita is of 100 percent Greek heritage. The photo exhibit was inspired by her last trip to Greece in 2014 when she went to Greece for 19 days with her family. During this trip she went to Athens, Patras, Mykonos, Santorini and several villages in Greece. De Vita visited the childhood homes of her parents in Patras where her father lived in the mountains and her mother lived by the beach.

"Greece is like a dream," De Vita told Patch. "The inspiration behind the photos are Greece’s beautiful beaches and landscape."

The photo exhibit was 10-and-a-half years in the making.

When De Vita traveled to Greece in July 2014, she captured countless photos, dreaming of one day showcasing them in an art gallery.

"I didn’t have a specific timeline in mind, but life became busy in many ways," she said. "This past summer, I finally had the opportunity to revisit that dream."

De Vita selected 36 of her favorite images, all printed on 16x30-inch canvases, and organized a photography exhibition at the Harborfields Public Library in July—a space she had booked a year in advance.

When the exhibition ended, she sought out other libraries, art galleries and venues that would be interested in displaying her work. She was "thrilled" when the owner of the Huntington Art Center on Wall Street invited her to showcase some of her photos in her gallery for two-and-a-half months.

"More recently, I secured gallery space at Daniel Gale in Northport, and I’m excited to present my work in the heart of the village I now call home," she said.

De Vita has 17 photos hung up at the art gallery of Daniel Gale in Northport village.

"Sharing my photography of Greece is deeply meaningful to me, as it includes images from my parents' hometown of Patras, along with the breathtaking islands of Santorini and Mykonos," De Vita said. "The crystal-clear waters, dramatic landscapes, and iconic whitewashed churches are a testament to Greece’s timeless beauty. As a proud Greek, I am honored to share my heritage through my art and hope to inspire others to experience Greece for themselves."

De Vita said Greece is renowned for "its rich history, stunning beaches, and delicious cuisine."

"With its breathtaking landscapes, vibrant culture, and timeless charm, it is one of the most captivating and enchanting destinations you will ever experience," she said.
