Beach Bathing Advisories Issued
Heavy rains led Suffolk County to advise against using several several town beaches this past week.
The county health department said the affected beaches are in areas that are heavily influenced by stormwater runoff from the surrounding watersheds and/or adjacent tributaries and, because of their location in bays, experience limited tidal flushing.
Commemoration at Anne Frank Garden
Town Councilwoman Susan A. Berland and other Huntington residents gathered at the Anne Frank Memorial Garden last week to celebrate the site's third anniversary and mark what would have been Anne Frank's 84th birthday.
The anniversary included a prayer from Rabbi Avraham Lehr of the Chai Center and testimonials from guest speakers Samuel Cukier, Holocaust survivor and Melville resident and Aaron Morgan, creator of Holocaust and Judaic art.
