Dog Crushed To Death By Elevator At Townhouse On Long Island: Police

No other injuries were reported, Suffolk police say.

LONG ISLAND, NY — A Boston Terrier dog was crushed to death by an elevator at a townhouse on Long Island on Monday afternoon, Suffolk police said.

The doors to a ground-floor elevator entrance at the home on Ira Road in Mount Sinai did not close as the elevator went up, the dog went inside the shaft, and the elevator came down on the animal at around 1:18 p.m., according to police.

No other injuries were reported.
