PATCHOGUE, NY — Former Patchogue Village Clerk Patti Seal died on Friday, village officials announced in a Facebook post.

In the post on Monday, village officials said they were "very saddened" to inform the public.

"Patti served as a village trustee, elected in 2004 after which she served as Village Clerk from 2005 to 2020," the post read. "Patti loved her 'village family' and worked tirelessly for the residents of Patchogue Village."

Lori Devlin, a former trustee who succeeded Seal as clerk, remembered the first time they knocked on doors together for their party, Patchogue First. They were candidates and part of the team that came into office with Mayor Paul Pontieri.

"Later, as village clerk, you served us all so well, officials, staff, and residents," she wrote. "I will miss your smiling face and gentle ways. RIP my friend."

Seal's cousin wrote: "It is with a heavy heart that we said goodbye to my beautiful cousin, Patti Luisi Seal, who was greeted in Heaven tonight with open arms by those who went before her. The world is a little darker since her bright light has dimmed. We love you, Patti, and know you are at peace."

Seal's loss was a second blow to the Patchogue community.

Seal's death comes days after the death of another Patchogue official, Joe Keyes.

Another poster wrote, "May the light of the Lord be with Joe and with Patti."

"Our village lost two very special people this week," the post continued. "They loved their village, the residents; co-workers, and most importantly, their families. May the Lord's light shine upon them always. May they sleep in heavenly peace. The tears of our village flow for them both."

Keyes' funeral was Saturday.

Arrangements for Seal have not been finalized.
