LONG ISLAND, NY — Sorry kids, the trick-or-treating forecast isn't looking great for Halloween. Rain will likely be falling most of the day on Thursday, the National Weather Service says.
Before we get to Thursday, though, there are coastal flooding concerns Monday night and Tuesday morning. There is a low threat of property damage. Shallow flooding is expected in the most vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline.
More than 2 inches of rain fell on parts of Long Island Sunday.

"Unsettled weather pattern will be in place for the remainder of the week," the weather service said in a forecast discussion Monday night. "Deterministic models have slowly come into better agreement over the last few days, but predictability with the large scale pattern has been low. Confidence is increasing however that the main frontal system will move across the region late Thursday into early Friday."
A total of 1-2 inches of rain, which may be heavy at times, along with a rumble or two of thunder is likely Thursday into Friday.

The good news for the trick-or-treaters who brave the rain: homeowners will likely let kids "take two or three."
Clouds & patchy light rain/drizzle, will yield highs in the upper 50s to lower 60s for Tue. Any coastal flood watches have been converted to advisories. Minor to localized moderate coastal flooding is expected for the high tide cycles tonight through early Tuesday afternoon. pic.twitter.com/ViPHuA4wjk
