Iconic 70s Band, Foghat, To Play Long Island

The band, best known "Slow Ride," "Fool for the City." and "Drivin' Wheel," will play the weekend of drummer Roger Earl's 79th birthday.

LONG ISLAND, NY — The iconic 70s band, Foghat, is coming to the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts on May 17.

The band, which has been playing tunes for 53 years, is best known for infectious boogie rock songs like, "Slow Ride," "Fool for the City," and "Drivin' Wheel." Its tunes have been popularized in video games like Guitar Hero III, and movies like "Dazed & Confused" and "Top Gun: Maverick" with its timeless appeal spanning generations, attracting not only Baby Boomers, but Gen X’ers, Millennials, and younger fans, alike.

The performance at the theatre will be a special one for not only one reason but two.

The band holds a special place for those on Long Island, as British-born Roger Earl – drummer and founding member – has lived in Suffolk County for over 50 years. Earl, who was inducted into the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame in 2023, will turn 79 the weekend of the concert.

The latest album, Sonic Mojo, which was released in November 2023, debuted in the top spot on the Billboard Blues Charts, and as of June 2024, the album had remained on the charts for 27 weeks.
