Long Island's 1st Christmas/Holiday Boat Parade Set For Sunday In Patchogue
The parade draws thousands each year. Plan ahead for some grub and find out where the best viewing areas will be.

PATCHOGUE, NY — Another holiday tradition is back this year — though technically a little early, but still most welcome.
The Patchogue Christmas/Holiday Boat Parade's theme this year is "A Winter Wonderland" and the line of march — so to speak — it's set to sail off at 6 p.m. on Sunday.
There will be a preview of the parade on Saturday night. Most of all the parade boats will be on display at restaurants along the riverfront. Members of the public will be able to vote for the People's Choice winner.

Officials encouraged parade-goers to make a night of it, listening to live music, and experiencing food and drinks along the riverfront.
There will be public viewing at Sandspit Park, which is at Davis Park Ferry Terminal, and the Fire Island National Seashore Watch Hill terminal, as well as all the waterfront restaurants.

The boat judging will be held at Harbor Crab where there will be complimentary hot chocolate and a S'mores station.
The parade began 28 years ago with Dick Blakeslee of the Oar Steak and Seafood Grill, who was inspired by the Ft. Lauderdale, FL, event, but he wanted something "cooler," according to organizers. It brings out thousands of people each year.
