As Nor'Easter Nears LI, County Officials Convene To Update Residents On Safety Preparations

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — With a nor'easter set to slam Long Island Sunday into Monday, on Sunday afternoon, Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine, accompanied by other county officials, held a press conference at the emergency operations center at the Suffolk County Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services' Office of Emergency Management in Yaphank regarding safety preparations.

Romaine addressed residents regarding the wind, rainfall, and potential coastal flooding associated with the storm.

Residents are urged to avoid flooded areas and unnecessary travel, he said.

In addition, officials added, residents should know if they are in a flood zone and have a go-bag ready with all necessary items for their family and pets.

Additionally, residents are urged to stay informed of any potential updates by monitoring the weather and local news, following the Suffolk County Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services' official social media channels and through SuffolkAlerts, the Suffolk County's official emergency alert system.
