Dean Murray Wins NYS 3rd SD Election: BOE

Sen. Dean Murray appears to lead the 3rd Senate District, according to unofficial results from the state Board of Elections.

LONG ISLAND, NY — Republican Incumbent Sen. Dean Murray appears to have the lead in the race for the 3rd Senate District, according to unofficial results from the state Board of Elections.

Murray garnered 57.24 % with 87, 097 votes, and his Democratic challenger, Michael Conroy, 35.26% with 53, 652 votes.

In a statement to Patch, Murray thanked his constituents.

"I am honored and humbled by the support of the voters in the 3rd Senate District," he said. "Whether it's keeping our communities safe, getting the migrant crisis under control, making Long Island and New York more affordable, or making sure our schools are properly funded, there are so many important issues that need to be addressed and I'm excited to get back to work."

Murray, of East Patchogue, was elected to the senate in 2022 with 65 percent of the vote, according to Ballotpedia.

Conroy was reportedly not actively campaigning.

Communities in the 3rd Senatorial District stretch from the Sachem area to the Mastic-Shirley/Manorville area, and further east to Calverton.
