Incumbent Republican Assemb. Jarett Gandolfo will be challenged by Democrat Garrett J. Petersen in the 7th Assembly District.
LONG ISLAND, NY — Voters in New York's 7th Assembly District will see an incumbent challenged as they head to the polls on Nov. 5.
The candidates:
- Jarett Gandolfo (Republican, Conservative)
- Garrett Petersen (Democrat)
Incumbent Assemb. Jarett Gandolfo, of Sayville, was first elected to the assembly in 2020 with a 60 percent lead, according to Ballotpedia.

He did not respond to Patch's questionnaire.
He will face Democrat Garrett J. Petersen of East Islip, in the election. Petersen, a political newcomer, is an Office for People with Developmental Disabilities clinician.

Communities in the 7th Assembly District include Bay Shore, Brightwaters, Islip, East Islip, Islip Terrace, Great River, Oakdale, Bohemia, West Sayville, Sayville, Bayport, Blue Point, Patchogue, and East Patchogue.
