Patchogue-Medford Senior Joe Smith Named One of Newsday’s Top Boys Volleyball Players
Two-Year Captain Honored in Islandwide List for Second Consecutive Year

MEDFORD, NEW YORK—Patchogue-Medford High School senior libero Joe Smith was named to Newsday’s Top 50 Long Island High School Boys Volleyball Players.
“A three-year varsity libero and two-year team captain, Joe is the heartbeat of our program,” said Patchogue-Medford High School boys varsity volleyball coach Michael Cuccinello. “Our team is remarkably proud of him for this recognition.”
Joe was also named one of Newsday’s top boys volleyball players at the start of his junior season and went on to record 143 digs and 13 aces. He plans to enter trade school following graduation and aspires to coach volleyball in the future.

“We are proud of Joe for this honor but even more impressed by the way he elevates those around him,” said Patchogue-Medford School District Director of Physical Education, Health, Athletics, and Health Services Anthony Cracco. “He is a true leader, and this recognition reflects both his talent and the spirit of our program.”
