Patchogue Village's DPW Chief Joe Dean, An 'Unsung Hero,' To Retire
He has served the village for over 30 years, and now friends will raise a glass to him on Friday.
PATCHOGUE, NY — Patchogue Village Department of Public Works Superintendent Joe Dean is retiring from his post, but not without some fanfare.
Dean, who has over 30 years of service with the village, will be celebrated by his friends and colleagues, who have organized a gathering for anyone who wants to thank him "for his exceptional service on behalf of Patchogue," Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce Executive Director David Kennedy said.
The retirement party will be held Friday at Bobbique, 70 W. Main St., Patchogue, from 3 to 7 p.m.

Dean was lauded by Kennedy who noted the organization's events would not be possible without Dean.
"The events are only possible through the support and approvals we get from the Village of Patchogue," Kennedy said, adding that Dean was an "unsung hero" in making events successful even before becoming Village DPW chief.

Dean was a Village Trustee, Kennedy said, and as the Patchogue "revival" began, he played "a key role with riverfront redevelopment, in particular."
"Now, after over 30 years of dedicated public service, Joe is headed for a much-deserved retirement," he said. "Come by to lift a glass and say, 'Thank you, Joe Dean.'" Kennedy urged.
