Patchogue's Feast of St. Liberata Postponed Until Next Saturday
It was set to include a procession with the saint, a marching band, bocce, and tons of food.

PATCHOGUE, NY — The Greater Patchogue Foundation's Cultural Heritage Committee’s Italian Feast of St. Liberata has been postponed from Saturday until Sept. 14.
It had been slated to run from 12 to 6 p.m. on Main Street.
The festival was to include a procession with a statue of St. Liberata, as well as a marching band, honoring Italian Americans of the Year, the Knights of Columbus Post #725.

Retail vendors, tons of food, and "Vino in the Street," as well as a bocce tournament, and a display of classic and Italian cars were also planned.
"This was not an easy decision as the timing of when rain is expected tomorrow has wavered all week, but at this time it seems certain rain will move through Patchogue at some point between 2-5 p.m., and right in the middle of this event, which would hamper all the outdoor entertainment we have planned," Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce Executive Director David Kennedy said in a statement.

"We will now host this wonderful event on our rain date of Saturday, Sept. 14," he said. "Expect all the same great food, entertainment, and activities we had planned for tomorrow to happen on our rain date."
"Right now, the forecast for Sept. 14 is a beautiful mostly sunny day," he continued. "We look forward to celebrate Patchogue’s rich Italian heritage on September 14. See you then."
