Pinehurst Senior Apartments In East Patchogue Plagued With Safety Concerns: Report

Broken elevators, suspected drug activity have left seniors feeling unsafe.

EAST PATCHOGUE, NY — Residents at the Pinehurst Senior Apartments in East Patchogue say unsafe, deteriorating conditions — including broken elevators, alleged drug activity and unfamiliar people roaming the halls have made daily life difficult for many elderly and mobility-impaired tenants, according to News 12 Long Island.

Recent cuts to maintenance and security staff have worsened problems.

"There's drug deals going on outside, and all sorts of people that come in here who don't belong," resident Eva Colini told News 12.

Tenant-association president Mary Fran told the outlet that management "does not want to work with residents," according to the report.

A report observed at least one elevator was out of service during a recent visit, and an unclean air duct was noted, details that residents say raise health and safety concerns. The complex has faced earlier complaints about garbage in 2023 and a 2022 burst pipe that flooded units.
