Suffolk Man Charged With DWI After Crash That Seriously Injured His Passenger: Police

The 2-vehicle crash took place in North Bellport Thursday night, police say.

NORTH BELLPORT, NY — A Shirley man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after a two-vehicle crash that seriously injured his passenger in North Bellport Thursday night, police said.

According to Suffolk County police, the incident took place on Montauk Highway near Weaver Avenue at 11:15 p.m.

Anthony Kaisser, 28, was driving a 2021 Dodge Charger eastbound on Montauk Highway when the vehicle crossed over the double yellow lines into the westbound lane and collided head-on with a westbound 2021 Toyota Venza near Weaver Avenue, police said.

Kaisser’s front-seat passenger was transported to NYU Langone Hospital - Suffolk in Patchogue for treatment of serious injuries, police said.

Kaisser was transported to the same hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The driver of the Toyota, a 36-year-old woman from Patchogue, was also transported to NYU Langone Hospital - Suffolk in Patchogue for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Kaisser was charged with DWI and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Friday.

Both vehicles were impounded, police said.
