Ex-Employee at Port Chester Company Charged in $1,200 Theft

Police: Port Chester man accused of stealing checks, cashing them.

A Port Chester man fired from a his job at a Port Chester business is accused of stealing $1,200 by taking two checks from the business and cashing them, according to Port Chester Police.

Santhosh George, 41, of 10 Parker St., was arrested at Port Chester Police Headquarters after detectives asked him to come in for questioning related to incidents at Sunlight Ambulette on Westchester Avenue in Port Chester. 

Lt. James Ladeairous said the company reported that it had discovered checks missing. Ladeairous said an investigation found that the two checks were cashed by George at a check-cashing business in Port Chester.

One of the checks, Ladeairous said, was pre-printed, and George is accused of forging a signature on the other check. The company told police George was fired Feb. 22.

George was arraigned in Port Chester Village Court and ordered held in the Westchester County Jail in Valhalla pending a hearing.
