Family U is Back for Parents and Children
Port Chester Cares Community Coalition and community partners host Family U at Port Chester Middle School

To the Editor,
Seize the day, seize the moment, and seize this opportunity, seize “Family U.”
On March 21st from 6:00-8:30 pm at Port Chester Middle School, the Port Chester Cares Community Coalition along with over a dozen community partners will again be hosting an extraordinary event for both the students in middle and high school and their parents, as well as 5th graders and their parents called Family U.
Family U will comprise of a series of informational and educational workshops on significant issues both our teens and us as parents face today in our daily lives. There will be workshops that promote health and wellness, financial and college planning, internet safety, healthy relationships, substance abuse prevention and bullying. These workshops will be presented by experts in their field like David Delmonico, a Professor at Duquesne University who will be presenting on Internet Safety. Richard Strand, a substance abuse prevention expert, will teach parents what they need to know about current substance trends and how to talk to your children about those difficult topics. Luis Almeyda, the Coordinator of the Parent Education AIDS Project will discuss Healthy Relationships and Parenting. Amparo Silva, the Associate Director of Admissions and Financial Aid at Syracuse University will be discussing The Road to College and how to prepare your student for college. AND a surprise guest (who the students all know) will be introducing them to the sport of lacrosse - the fastest sport on feet.

To make this extraordinary event even more appealing, it is free. If that is not enough, Garden Catering has generously provided dinner to all the families that attend this event!
Whether it is the best of times or the worst of times, it is one of the remaining few times we have left with our teens to provide them with an impacting experience. Come on Port Chester Middle & High School Parents & Students, we’ve got to be there!”
