Letter to the Editor: Port Chester 2013 School Board Race
Support for Carolee Brakewood.

To the Editor:
As an 18 year resident of Port Chester with a daughter at King Street School I am supporting Carolee Brakewood for board of education. I have known Carolee for several years now and have always been amazed at her appetite for involvement in our schools and her endless energy. Here is one small illustration of why she deserves everyone’s support. I have helped out running sound for the annual KSS talent show which Carolee organizes and manages. Putting together a show like that is a monumental and often thankless task! Carolee helps the literally dozens of children express themselves in many different ways, including dances, songs, and scenes. She must spend a colossal number of hours on this every year, from planning, to organizing parents, to working with individual acts on her own time so that each child can feel confident on the stage. Each year she approaches it with a smile on her face and improves the show. This shows her firm commitment to and faith in our public schools to which she has entrusted her own children’s education; she has a daughter at King Street and a son at the middle school. I would sleep well at night knowing we have a strong and effective advocate for our children on our school board.
