New Haven Line Train Hits, Kills Person At Port Chester Station

Trains were delayed by as much as an hour and canceled during the evening commute because of the tragic events.

PORT CHESTER, NY — One person is dead after being struck at the Port Chester station by a Grand Central-bound Metro-North train.

The person killed was trespassing on the tracks, according to Metro-North officials, who told Patch that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.

According to MTA police, the 4:14 p.m. train from New Haven to Grand Central struck the yet-to-be-identified person at the station near the Connecticut/New York border.

The evening commute was disrupted by the tragedy. Riders along the New Haven line experienced delays of up to 60 minutes Wednesday evening and some trains were canceled. Normal service resumed at approximately 9:28 p.m, according to the railroad.
