
Joan Toby Wunsch Freedman, 76, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2013 in Illinois.
Joan was the beloved wife of Steven for 54 years; loving mother of Ralph, Larry and Mark, their spouses Lauren, Lucy and Kristen; and adoring grandmother of Levi, Benjamin, Julian, Alana, Elyssa and Emily; dear sister of Bob Wunsch; and caring aunt of Maggie Scott and Rafe Wunsch.
Joan was born and raised in Port Chester and was the daughter of the late Harry Wunsch and Anna Carduner Wunsch.

Joan was ecstatic about her grandchildren, and gave them the gift of her love of reading. She delighted in music and was a joyous singer in the Laurel Larks choral group from Highland Park, IL. She was an avid book reader and participant in at least four book discussion groups.
She was a tireless worker and Board member of the American Association of University Women, Deerfield (Il) Area Branch, and a devoted voting registrar with the League of Women Voters. Joan was a graduate of Wellesley College, Class of 1958, and was a lifelong learner.

Services were held on May 4, 2013 at Kelley & Spalding Funeral Home, Highland Park, IL. The interment was private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Association of University Women, Deerfield Area Branch c/o Treasurer at marlakim2@aol.com.
