Passenger Killed On I-684 After Vehicle Struck Trees Near Airport

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — A passenger was killed Friday evening on Interstate I-684 near the New York/Connecticut border, according to Connecticut State Police.
Around 6:20 p.m. on Friday, a 2005 Cadillac Escalade was traveling southbound in Greenwich on I-684, right before the Westchester County Airport exit (Exit 2 ramp), when for unknown reasons, it "veered off the right side of the highway through the grassy roadside and into the wooded area, where it struck multiple trees," according to Connecticut State Police.
The driver, a 47-year-old Port Chester resident, was taken by Armonk EMS to Westchester Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

The passenger, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Connecticut State Police.
The Escalade, owned by another Port Chester resident, was towed from the scene by Post Road Auto Body.

I-684 southbound, between Exit 2 and Exit 3, along with the entrance ramps, was closed for several hours last night during the crash investigation, according to alerts sent out by the Town of North Castle Police Department.
Police say that this accident remains under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who has any information relevant to this investigation is requested to contact Connecticut State Trooper Clinton DeSoto at 203-696-2500 or through email.
