Police Remove Suspicious Package From Port Chester Home Depot
Officials said they have since identified both the contents of the package and who left it behind in the parking lot of the store.

PORT CHESTER, NY — Reports of a suspicious package created a "charged" situation at a busy home improvement store.
Early Monday morning, the Port Chester Police Department was called about a suspicious package abandoned in the parking lot of Home Depot on Midland Avenue. After a multi-agency response, it was confirmed by public safety officials that the package was not a danger to person or property and was removed.
The person who left the package behind has since been contacted by the Port Chester Police Department. The contents of the suspicious package turned out to be lithium batteries.

Police said that while in this case, the package was harmless, reporting suspicious items in a public space is aways the right thing to do.
"The village thanks those persons who brought this concern to our attention," officials said in a statement released Monday morning. "It is in these circumstances that we remember that we must all remain vigilant and remember that if you see something, say something."
