Port Chester Firefighters Battle 3-Alarm South Main Street Blaze

City officials are asking residents to avoid the area of the "dangerous" fire and to make alternate travel plans as crews fight the blaze.

PORT CHESTER, NY — A three-alarm fire on Main Street in downtown Port Chester has closed several roads and caused delays on the Metro-North New Haven Line.

The fire broke out in an abandoned building on Main Street in Port Chester late Monday morning, Village Manager Stuart Rabin told New York ABC News-affiliate WABC. He told the station's Anthony Carlo that the blaze is currently a three-alarm fire and now two buildings are completely engulfed.

Meanwhile, the MTA said that the inferno has caused delays on the Metro-North New Haven Line. The New Haven Line service is operating with delays of up to 10 minutes because of fire department activity. The 10:37 a.m. train from Grand Central to Stamford bypassed Rye, Port Chester, and Greenwich entirely because of the fire.
