Port Chester Middle School Performers Will 'Shine' In 'Seussical Jr.'

"Dr. Seuss characters are lovable, relatable and colorful, making it a perfect middle school show," director Julie Doré promises.

PORT CHESTER, NY — "We’ll work and we’ll work up so many surprises you’d never see half if you had forty eyes!" — If I Ran The Circus by Dr. Seuss

Port Chester Middle School students will present "Seussical Jr." as their musical production from Dec. 1-3. Under the guidance of theater director Julie Doré and musical director Rosemarie Veltri, the show features a talented group of 23 students in the cast and 15 in the crew.

"Seussical Jr. is a favorite of mine because there are many roles that allow students to shine in multiple ways as singers, actors and dancers," Doré said. “There are modern-day, universal messages of friendship, love and devotion to doing the right thing in 'Seussical Jr.' Dr. Seuss characters are lovable, relatable and colorful, making it a perfect middle school show.”

Doré described the production’s choreography as fun and inviting, the music as catchy and the costumes as colorful, detailed and creative. In addition to Doré, Veltri and the students, the production is made possible thanks to the technical direction of Zach Doré.

"The students are thrilled to bring their characters to life," she said. "The production is really coming together, and we all know that they will have a wonderful experience in the theater this December."

Performances will be held on Thursday, Dec. 1, Friday, Dec. 2, and Saturday, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m. in the Port Chester Middle School auditorium.
