Port Chester Police Probe Bogus Report of Man with a Gun
Caller warned of man at supermarket, prompting police to search store. The report was false.

Port Chester Police are investigating a false alarm called in to them, warning of a man with a gun at a local supermarket.
Lt. James Ladeairous said the call prompted an immediate response by village police officers, who went to the Pathmark store on Midland Avenue to conduct a search. The man described by the caller was not seen at the store and no one with a gun was located.
Port Chester Police received an emergency call at 6:37 p.m. on Thursday warning of a man wearing a dark coat in the store who had a gun. Ladeairous said the call did not come from store employees and when police arrived store workers said they had not seen anyone suspicious.

Police officers searched Pathmark and the store was not evacuated.
Police ask that anyone who has information about the caller who made the false report to call them at 914-939-1000.
