Port Washington Public Library Reopens After Losing Power

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — The Port Washington Public Library has reopened a day after losing power due to a damaged utility pole. Fire officials said a car smashed into the pole around 3:15 a.m. Thursday.
A photo posted on social media showed a damaged utility pole leaning precariously toward the library's parking lot. Splintered wood lay strewn around the pole, which was blocked off with yellow caution tape.
"Due to damage to a utility pole on Main Street, the library will not have electrical power today," the library on Main Street wrote in a Facebook post around 9:30 a.m. Thursday. "Unfortunately, we will have to close.

Keith Klang, director of the library, told Patch it reopened Friday.
"I am happy to report that we regained power last evening and re-opened at our regular time this morning, 9 a.m.," he said.
