PORT WASHINGTON, NY — Secrets of Flight, a Port Washington restaurant that reopened over the summer following a brief hiatus, has closed its doors.

In September, chef-owner Aleksander Betko told Patch he'd reopened the glamorous Main Street restaurant in hopes of reviving the struggling eatery by drawing customers with new offerings including breakfast, burgers, coffee and more options for kids. The idea was to tailor the restaurant more to a suburban experience while staying true to his city expertise.

On Tuesday, he confirmed Secrets of Flight hasn't worked out and that he plans to sell the space. The website and Facebook page for the eatery were both taken down.

Betko said he's still figuring out future plans.

Secrets of Flight first opened in November 2018 at the site of the former Main Street Bakery, which closed five years earlier. By and large, the restaurant received positive reviews, earning 3 out of 4 stars from Newsday food critic Peter M. Gianotti, 4.5 out of 5 stars on Yelp and 4.2 out of 5 stars on OpenTable.
