March 2024 Danny started Kicks4change - a passion turned into purpose - a sneaker recycling and fundraising organization. Sneakers take 30 years to decompose in landfills releasing toxic chemicals into our air and soil. Danny collects sneakers and recycles and/or repurposes them on his own and with GotSneakers.
All proceeds are donated to a charity that provides new athletic footwear to athletes in underserved communities. In the last 12 months over 1600 pairs of sneakers have been collected and $1100 donated. The sustainability impact 44000 lbs of carbon dioxide displaced and 3.3 million gallons of water saved. He has 8 collections boxes in town and 1 at NBC sports HQ in Stamford, CT. See article in April Port Washington Living Magazine for additional details.
