Back to School Celebration and Giveaway This Saturday in Crown Heights

Students can get free supplies and speak with city and community groups at a free back-to-school celebration in Crown Heights on Saturday.

CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — A back-to-school giveaway will take place this Saturday on Kingston Avenue in Crown Heights.

The event, sponsored by State Senator Jesse Hamilton, whose district includes the neighborhood, will run from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. between Eastern Parkway and St. Johns Place.

According to Hamilton's office, backpacks, notebooks, pens, pencils, crayons, rulers and erasers will be handed out, as well as donated books.

Children will be able to receive free physicals, and the day's entertainment will include a bounce house, a DJ, an obstacle course, and a performance by Ms. K's Dance Academy.

About 30 organizations will also have representatives at the event, according to Hamilton's office, including Legal Aid, the Center for Anti-Violence Education, and the Brooklyn Public Library.
