Elderly Woman's Sucker Punching Attacker Arrested, Cops Say

PROSPECT LEFFERTS GARDENS — Cops arrested Tuesday night the grinning man caught on camera punching an elderly woman to the ground and breaking her jaw, police said.

Jaquan Whittle, 27, faces assault charges for lunging at the 71-year-old woman near Lincoln Road and New York Avenue about 5:25 p.m. on Sept. 19., police said.

Whittle, of Prospect Lefferts Gardens, was caught on video released Tuesday that shows him walking down the street, then suddenly veering off to punch the woman before turning and continuing briskly on his way.

Emergency responders took the elderly woman to Kings County Hospital in serious condition, said police.

She was treated for a broken jaw and cuts on her mouth that required stitches.

More information about Whittle's arraignment was not immediately available.
