Enjoy Your Morning Coffee With Bake and Saltfish at Crown Pacific Cafe

CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — Sandrina George said that she'd already been busy catering neighborhood parties and events when a friend in the real estate market told her about a property that had opened up.

And so George, an immigrant from Trinidad and Tobago who said she'd never owned a business in the U.S. before, decided to jump at the opportunity.

After three months of work, Crown Pacific Cafe opened this past Saturday, the owner told Patch.

The cafe and restaurant, located at 75 Utica Ave., is offering a variety of meals influenced by Carribean, American and Italian cooking traditions.

For breakfast, visitors can sip coffee or tea while enjoying the cafe's free wifi. Waffles, pancakes, and bake and saltfish, a Carribean classic, are also on the menu, along with bagels, muffins and croissants.

Lunch options include oxtail, rosemary potatoes, California slaw (including sweet peppers, cabbage and carrots), and stewed chicken with pomento peppers and seasoning.

For dinner, George said her menu includes burgers made of salmon, fish or beef; grilled salmon in balsamic dressing served with a side salad; and a crumb pacific wrap, which includes grilled chicken, vegetables, and garlic sauce.

You can wash it all down with a strawberry lemonade, or order Italian pasta salad or garden salad on the side.

Crown Pacific Cafe is open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday.
