Police Blotter: Graffiti Bandit Strikes and Subway Drug Bust

The following reports were supplied by the 77th Precinct of the NYPD. They do not indicate a conviction.

Injures Driver and Flees 

Police are looking for a man who fled a car accident after he ran a red light and injured another driver, according to witnesses.

The 53-year old victim told cops he was driving on Franklin Avenue early Monday morning, when, at Sterling Place, a man went through a red light, hit his car and drove off. 

Witnesses backed up his statement and said the man as black, about 5-foot-10, and wearing a tan jacket. 

The victim was taken to Brooklyn Hospital with neck, back and hand pain. The accident took place on March 18 at 4:45 a.m.

Subway Drug Bust 

A ticket for walking between subway cars turned into a drug arrest after cops found a "large quantity" of marijuana as well as drug paraphernalia in a train rider's backpack.

Cops initially stopped the 52-year-old (black) man for walking between the cars. They ran a check on him and discovered he had an open arrest warrant. A subsequent search brought up the pot and paraphernalia. The arrest took place at 4:50 a.m. on March 23.

Graffiti Bandit(s)

One or more spray-paint toting vandals hit the Prospect Heights area, writing on the walls of at least four apartment buildings.

Between March 19 and March 20, graffiti was discovered:

- On Atlantic Avenue between Grand and Washington, where the word "detox" was found. 

- On Lincoln Place between Underhill and Washington, where the words "skiz," "Alah" and Knox" were found.

 - On Dean Street between Classon and Franklin, where the words "smash," "skiz" and "foot," were found.

- On Bergen Street between Classon and Franklin, the words "serve" and "Iyeah" were written.

All the reports list the graffiti as taking place after about 4:30 p.m. on March 19 and were reported between 10:20 a.m. and 10:35 a.m. the next day.
