CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — Newly elected assembly member Brian Cunningham wants you to come meet him on the street. Well, technically on Empire Boulevard.

The state assembly member, representing parts of Crown Heights and Prospect Lefferts Gardens in Albany, is opening a new office this week and is inviting the community to help mark the occasion.

The new office is located at 249 Empire Boulevard and between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Friday, Cunningham is hosting a community resource fair to help welcome all who live in the neighborhood.

“My vision is to use our office as a community hub,” Cunningham wrote in a press release, "we are turning our part of Brooklyn into a haven for optimism and cooperation."

A wide swarth of community groups will be represented at the office, including the Crown Heights North Association, Community Board Eight, Repair the World Brooklyn and the Brooklyn Community Pride Center.

The office, Cunningham wrote, “is large enough and accessible for individuals and community groups to utilize."

Cunningham won a special election in March to replace Diana Richardson, who represented the district in the state assembly for nearly seven years. Richardson is now Brooklyn's deputy borough president.

"This is the community's office," Cunningham said.
