Missing Special Needs Man Last Seen at West Indian Day Parade

Leon Shepherd, 50, was last seen on Labor Day near the intersection of Franklin Avenue and Eastern Avenue.

CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — A missing Crown Heights man with special needs was last seen at Monday's West Indian Day Parade, a detective with the NYDP's 77th Precinct said Thursday.

Leon Shepherd (pictured above) was last seen at 4:30 p.m. on Labor Day near the intersection of Franklin Avenue and Eastern Avenue.

A neighborhood flyer described Leon, 50, as standing about five-foot-six-inches and weighing between 150 and 160 pounds.

The flyer says Leon has a dark complexion, light-colored eyes and brown hair. He is also missing a portion of his right index finger.

Leon was last seen wearing a red or maroon-colored short-sleeved shirt, tan cargo shorts, white Nike sneakers and a blue baseball cap.

The detective with the 77th Precinct confirmed that Leon lives with autism.
