Monkey Chow and Prank Calls: Acme Pet Food's Weirdest Request

After 26 years in business, Brian Conneally of Acme Pet Food has seen a variety of animals waltz through his door.
But what’s the strangest request he’s ever fielded?
The answer isn’t as deranged as you may think —there haven’t been any requests for alligator leashes (yet).

“I had a guy call once and ask for monkey chow,” Conneally recalled.
Thinking it was a prank call—and not an actual primate pet owner— Conneally responded according, uttering a not-so-polite response about the caller’s mother.

But it turned out the request was legitimate. The caller didn’t have a pet monkey, but a pet parrot. And parrots are keen on monkey chow, according to Conneally.
As for what exactly the ingredients are, Conneally is less sure.
“I have no idea what’s in monkey chow,” he laughed.
