One Dead After Fatal Crown Heights Fire: FDNY

A Prospect Place fire on Thursday night left one person dead, officials said.

CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — A fatal Crown Heights fire on Thursday night left one person dead, fire officials said.

Firefighters rushed to the first-floor blaze at 922 Prospect Place, near Brower Park, just before 8:30 p.m. Thursday, officials said.

Though the fire was under control in about 40 minutes, smoke eaters discovered a victim inside the building who was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the FDNY.

The name of the deceased has not yet been released and the cause of the fire remains under investigation, fire officials said.
